 Our work in 2012

In 2012 CASE assisted a total of 816 people through our migration, review and generalist work.

CASE for Refugees opened a total of 383 migration files which assisted a total of 562 people.  We lodged a total of 176 applications throughout the year - being 132 family reunion visas and 44 protection visas. We received decisions on 20 protection applications and 55 family reunion applications. Our Family Reunion success rate is about 56%.

We submitted 28 appeals to the Refugee and Migration Review Tribunals. Our success rate at the MRT/RRT is approximately 58%.

We provided one-off advice services to 141 clients and also successfully completed and closed 176 files. 

Our clients came from 49 countries across the world with our largest client groups are people coming from Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan and Burma. 

Our 65  active volunteers gave a total of  3177 hours of work in 2012.  Our volunteers include lawyers, migration agents, law students and many others.
